cw: interacting with jin means dealing with themes/mentions such as suicide ideation and cannibalism. the cannibalism themes are not gore-specific, limited to the term of "flesh eater". Jin is an antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He is the head of the secret organization Torna who wants to find and capture Pyra, seconded by Malos. Originally known as the Paragon of Torna, Jin's powers revolve around the use of ice and lightning-fast movement. After becoming a Flesh Eater, his powers are greatly enhanced, being able to control elementary particles, albeit suffering from severe pain from time to time. Jin is a sombre Blade of few words, which gives him a cold and somewhat unfriendly demeanor. Despite this he cares deeply for those he feels responsible for (Lora, young Mikhail, and Malos) and despite his distaste for fighting will not hesitate to defend them with force. Upon becoming a Flesh Eater his worldview, previously quite kind and defensive of people regardless of their relationship to him, changes drastically as he loses faith in humanity and begins to wish not only for his own death but that of the Architect.
Compassion:
Jin was the Paragon of Torna, one of the greatest warriors to ever exist. Despite that title, he has never cared for fighting itself, only using it when the need is greatest and choosing to avoid conflict as much as possible. Even after he loses everything he loves and sinks to the depths of despair and sorrow, Jin manages to hold onto his core of compassion, always choosing to extend a hand to those who have been left behind and rejected by humanity. Even his greatest enemy received Jin’s complete loyalty and devotion, despite his hand in the events that ruined Jin’s life. Cynicism: The events of Jin’s life have taught him one thing: Mankind cannot be trusted. They pillage and burn and take. After losing Lora, this is the one fact Jin holds onto and struggles to budge on, because such hatred is an unnatural element in him. It’s merely a facet of his despair turned against the world, God and mankind whom he sees as willing participants in destroying all that is good and worthwhile. And even though he no longer believes that completely, there will always be a part of Jin that distrusts humanity’s motivations. Despair: cw: suicide ideation Due to his actions when faced with Lora’s death, Jin effectively locked himself into a standstill with his own trauma. Unable to bear the loss of Lora and equally unable to forget her, Jin is trapped with his own death wish, one he cannot fully see through because to die would mean forgetting the girl he raised and loved. As such, Jin can be very reckless with his life, constantly pushing himself to his limits, letting himself crumble into pieces, always seeking an ending that seems to elude him at every turn. Stoic: Jin tends to come off cold and blunt at times. Though he’s rarely coarse and generally well-spoken and polite, Jin is never one to mince words so if he feels you are out of line, he will speak plainly, never sidestepping the issue. It won’t matter what rank or power a person has, Jin will always be forthright in his own opinion and settle matters on his own terms. This doesn’t make him stubborn by any means. He’s more than keen to find solutions and is willing to hear them out, but there are certain boundaries that Jin will hold firm no matter what. Loyalty: If Jin connects with someone, that means he’s completely loyal to them no matter what. This applies to the people he takes into his care, but it can even apply to extreme cases such as Malos, a person who effectively destroyed Jin’s homeland and his life. When Malos extends his hand, pulling Jin from the gutter and his despair, Jin swears his loyalty to Malos just as much as Malos swears his loyalty to Jin. For that reason, Jin sends Malos ahead of him to find his answers and bars the path at the expense of his own life. Gladly. For the people he loves, there’s nothing Jin will not do.
Ice: As an Ice Blade, Jin can summon blades of ice and attack with extreme cold. He can bring the temperature down to absolute zero, debilitating his opponents. Super Speed: Jin can move at the speed of light. Ether shield: Jin can throw up an energy shield. Elemental Particle Manipulation: Due to his extreme speed and his ice-abilities, Jin can manipulate element particles around him, deflecting them or simply stopping them in their path by making the atmosphere so cold that everything slows down around him. Master Swordsman: Jin is the Paragon of Torna, considered to be one of the strongest Blades with the sword. Heart Decay: Due to having a human heart, Jin cannot sustain his powers for long intervals.
